Is there a vision guiding you?

When working with business leaders or entrepreneurs, one of the first things I try to understand is their vision for their business. Even the best can lose their way if they lose sight of what they want to achieve. All our choices should support the achievement of that vision. This principle isn’t limited to business; anyone can apply it to the life they’re trying to build.

What is your vision for your future? This vision could apply to your career, health, relationships, or a combination of important life areas. While priorities are essential for achieving goals, filling your vision with detail helps you internalize with clarity what your life should look and feel like.

What is a vision? A vision is an image of your future that inspires and guides your choices. You can align your goals with your vision and measure your life’s direction against it. Your vision invokes emotion, and internalizing it will trigger intuitive impulses to keep you on track. It doesn’t matter if you know how to achieve your vision; you’ll figure that out along the way. Focus on what you want to achieve, not how.

In defining your vision, be clear on your core values and ensure a sense of purpose in your goals. Wealth, recognition, or other success markers may be benefits of achieving your vision, but if these are your focus, look deeper into why you want what you envision. If your vision includes becoming wealthy, consider what you will do to earn that wealth and how you will add value to others.

Ultimately, people seek happiness, although they may not call it that. Happiness is often the feedback life gives us and comes from pursuing a vision aligned with our values, emotional needs, and expectations. Some people avoid what they don’t want or are guided by fear. Others follow societal or cultural checklists. However, the most successful and happiest individuals follow their inner sense of purpose and meaning. Ensure your vision for the future is your own, and let it be your unwavering guide on your life journey.
